Reports on Friday afternoon told the gruesome tale of a British woman apparently murdered while shopping in Tenerife.
Witnesses said the victim was in a supermarket when a man entered, picked up a knife and then beheaded her. He walked out of the shop holding the head and tried to escape before he was stopped by a security guard.
The suspect is a 28-year old unemployed Bulgarian man known in the town of Los Cristianos, where the assault took place. The victim was 60, although her name has not yet been released.
