Spanish golfing great Severiano (Seve) Ballesteros died in the early hours of Saturday morning at his family home in northern Spain. He was 54.
After an incredibly successful and popular career which included victory in five Masters and four Ryder Cups, he retired in 2007 and was then diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2008. Despite undergoing numerous operations to try to cure the condition the surgeons were unable to help, and his health deteriorated this week before he passed away.
Tributes are being sent from all over the world as golf fans remember his extraordinary talent and personality.
His family have acknowledged the support of so many well-wishers, but now are asking for privacy as they try to come to terms with their loss.
