On Wednesday, President Obama confirmed that he would not release photos of the dead body of Osama bin Laden. They reportedly show the open head wound from the gunfire of the US soldiers who shot him on Sunday, despite him being unarmed and protected by his young wife at the time.
The debate after the initial announcement of the death of the al-Qaeda leader has fuelled much discussion which includes conspiracy theories and concerns over retaliatory attacks, resulting in many embassies across the world being subject to extra security measures.
That proved a vital factor in Obama’s decision to withhold the photos from the public domain, over fears of them seeming too gloating and being used as propaganda.
