The Chinese, Li Na, made history on Saturday by beating defending champion Francesca Schiavone in the final of the French open at Roland Garros.
Despite the occasion, Na put on a great performance, outplaying her opponent in straight sets, 6-4 7-6.
She becomes the first Chinese player to win a Grand Slam in over one hundred years of tennis history. Those back home who had stayed up late into the night to watch the match celebrated their heroine's remarkable feat.
