Jack Warner leaves FIFA

FIFA has confirmed that Jack Warner, its Vice-President and one of the men at the centre of a corruption and bribery investigation, has resigned.

Warner's decision is very convenient for President Sepp Blatter and the rest of the organisation because it means that the enquiry into claims of bribery within the bidding process for the 2022 World Cup can now be dropped.

The resignation saves both Warner and FIFA further embarrassment, although it does little to improve the image of all involved in the wake of the scandal and the farcical presidential election at the start of June.
