NATO misfire kills Libyan rebels

NATO has announced intentions to increase the amount of air strikes against Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s forces in Libya, but may have to reconsider as the rebels they are trying to aid have claimed that at least thirteen of their number were killed when missiles identified the wrong target.

The incident took place in Ajdabiya, where the rebels were forced to retreat from a battle with the regime after being hit by allied air strikes. Doctors at a nearby hospital said there were many more injuries too, which has stirred anger among the people.

This tragic mistake has interrupted their advance in the last few days, but it is very unlikely that they will want long to regroup as they seek to take their country from Gaddafi and his men.
