At least thirty dead after Misrata assault

Rebel sources involved in the fighting in the Libyan city of Misrata claimed that at least thirty of their men had been killed after an assault by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s forces on Saturday.

The regime targeted the city as the struggle continues to overhaul Gaddafi after his forty-one year dictatorship.

Meanwhile, NATO claimed the destruction of seventeen Libyan tanks in a related incident.

There remains a great deal of anger amongst the rebels who NATO is attempting to aid following the mistaken targeting by a pilot which resulted in thirteen soldiers being killed last week. They have faced similar criticism for a lack of response to the murder of a number of civilians by Gaddafi’s forces.
