Murray loses to Nadal

Andy Murray lost to world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi final of the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 arena on Saturday evening.

The Scot missed his chance to win the last tournament of the year in nail-biting fashion. Nadal, who completed the career grand slam this year, took the first set on a tie-break 7 – 6 (7 -5).

Murray was not going to be beaten very easily though and fought back to claim the second 6 – 3, setting up a tense third-set decider against a tiring Spaniard.

Nadal grabbed an early break and looked to be heading for the win, but when he was serving for the match his opponent would not give up and broke back to go into another tie-break.

Murray held the early advantage but, like always, Nadal came back. At 6 – 6 Murray sent a forehand long and Nadal was able to take the match after a lengthy rally in three sets: 7 – 6 (7 – 5), 3 – 6, 7 – 6 (8 – 6), and will contest the final on Sunday against either Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic.
