Liverpool draw - wins for Chelsea and Arsenal

Liverpool looked to continue their good recent form as they visited Wigan Athletic – a very unpredictable side.

The Reds started as they would have hoped as Fernando Torres gave them the lead after only a few minutes. In the second half, the hosts struck back through Hugo Rodallega’s finish. Neither side could find a winner and the match ended 1 – 1.

League leaders Chelsea hoped to recover from their defeat at Anfield on Sunday by beating Fulham at Stamford Bridge, and Michael Essien opened the scoring with half an hour gone.

The score-line remained the same through to the final whistle, but Essien was sent off, spoiling his performance in the 1 - 0 victory for his team.

Arsenal had to make the journey to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Gunners also needing a win after losing at home to Newcastle at the weekend.

They got the perfect start when Marouane Chamakh headed home in the first minute. The match then swung back and forth, with some nasty challenges catching the attention, until Chamakh scored again at the end to seal a 0 – 2 away victory.
