Monday finish for Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is now scheduled to be completed on Monday after very heavy rain in south Wales has made play impossible for much of the weekend. Play will resume on Sunday afternoon.

The Americans got the better of the early exchanges to take a 6 – 4 lead, but Europe are currently leading all six of the matches still to be completed. If they can maintain that advantage, it would put them in a very strong position before the singles matches start.

Although inconvenient and disruptive, the weather has made for even more excitement, confusion and uncertainty over the performances and results themselves, as players have to try to keep their concentration and momentum despite lengthy breaks for rain, making this tournament arguably tougher than many which have gone before.
