Nadal achieves career grand slam at US Open

Spaniard Rafael Nadal won the US Open on Monday night, thereby achieving a career grand slam, having already won the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon.

The match was delayed by rain, but he eventually came through in four sets against the Serbian, Novak Djokovic, 6 – 4 5 – 7 6 – 4 6 - 2, and joins an elite club of seven men who have won all four majors.

After the match the debate started as to whether Nadal could be considered greater than his Swiss rival, Roger Federer, and whether he can overhaul Federer’s total of sixteen grand slam titles.
